Let your guests/family get a little creative and have a little fun with food, as they build their own gourmet burger, with this build your own burger bar, at your next picnic or BBQ!

This build your own burger bar allows for people to get creative and have a little fun with food.

Who knows, it may even encourage people to try something new!

How far you go with customization options is up to you, however, here are a few ideas to consider along with some photos to give you a little inspiration for displaying your options.

Hamburger Buns:

Keep things simple with your standard hamburger rolls, or throw a few different options in the mix, whether it be different types of rolls or pita, there are plenty of options to get creative with just the vehicle for your individual burger and toppings.

Toppings to consider:

Pineapple rings-try them grilled!

Sliced Avocado/guacamole

Salsa-you could do a few varieties- I used pico de gallo here, but a black bean and corn might taste good, or even a fruit salsa too!

Jalepeno/pickle slices

Grilled/sautéed onion

Raw onion

Sautéed/Grilled Mushrooms

Roasted red peppers

Tomato

Lettuce

Coleslaw

Blue cheese

Sauces to complete the spread:

BBQ sauce

Mayo

Yellow mustard

Dijon mustard

Ketchup

Siracha

Hot sauce

Black garlic puree

Olive tampanede

Some additional tips:

Put out some signs with some flavor combo ideas to spark some inspiration:

BBQ sauce + sautéed onions + mushrooms

Red pepper + blue cheese, onion and olive tapenade

Avocado + pico de gallo + pineapple

These toppings work well with all kinds of burgers. Whether a portobello mushroom cap, veggie burger, turkey burger, seafood burger, bison or beef burger- all different types of burgers can be included here!

What gourmet burger do you think you will have?
